Description
Some beaches are found easily; others must be sought. Elias Beach belongs to the latter. Tucked away on the northwestern coast of Skiathos, it is a place where the land and sea meet without intrusion, where golden sand spills lazily into an expanse of shifting blue, and the fragrance of pine drifts down from the hills, carried by the wind.
The shore stretches wide, broader than most beaches on the island, allowing space for solitude even in the liveliness of summer. The sea is shallow at first, then suddenly deepens, inviting the kind of swim that lingers on the skin long after you’ve left the water. There are no towering cliffs here, no dramatic formations—just the slow and steady rhythm of the tide, the kind of beauty that does not need to announce itself.
Distance
Elias lies 14 kilometers from Skiathos Town, accessible by car or motorbike in about 30 minutes. The journey is straightforward at first, following the paved road past Koukounaries, but soon turns into a dirt path—uneven, scattered with stones, and at times little more than a suggestion. It is best taken slowly, with patience, with the understanding that certain places are meant to be reached, not merely arrived at.
Toilet/Bar Availability
A single taverna stands at the edge of the trees, its wooden tables shaded by a scattering of umbrellas. Here, the food is unpretentious—grilled fish, fresh vegetables, cold beer—the kind of meal that tastes better with bare feet in the sand. There are toilets available, practical and unembellished, enough to remind you that some traces of civilization remain.
Further down the beach, sunbeds and umbrellas are offered, though they do not dominate the landscape. Most people bring their own towels, their own shade, their own understanding that comfort is something you carry with you.
Blue Flag
Elias Beach does not hold a Blue Flag, but its waters are no less pristine. The clarity is striking, the sea a transparent sheet over soft sand and smooth pebbles. There are no signs to confirm its purity, but none are needed.
Directions / Transportation
To get here, you must leave the paved roads behind. A rented car, motorbike, or even a bicycle can manage the dirt track leading through the hills, but the last stretch is best walked, following the path as it dips through the pines before revealing the sea.
Alternatively, small boats sometimes depart from Skiathos Town, carrying those who prefer to arrive from the water rather than the land.

Tips & Secrets
- Mornings belong to the few. Arrive early, and you will find the beach almost untouched, the sand cool beneath your feet, the waves still waking.
- Snorkel where the rocks begin. Toward the edges of the bay, where the sand gives way to hidden coves and submerged boulders, a world exists just below the surface.
- The wind is a storyteller. Some afternoons, when the Meltemi blows, the waves rise and the sea changes character, reminding you that no place stays the same for long.
- Stay long enough to forget time. When the sun starts to sink, the sky turns honey-colored, and the last swimmers drift in the water as if reluctant to leave. This is when Elias is at its most beautiful.
Elias Beach is for those who do not rush from one place to the next, but instead allow themselves to belong, even if only for an afternoon. Here, nature does not demand your attention—it simply waits for you to notice.
